History & Mission

Eighteen of Western Australia's most influential business leaders launched CEOs for Gender Equity at Government House in 2014.

The Equal Opportunity Commission prompted the formation of the inaugural group of CEOs in 2012 and since 2016, with the appointment of its inaugural executive officer, has seen it grow to represent more than 50 CEOs from the corporate, not-for-profit and government sectors.

We are committed to influencing and inspiring other CEOs to do better by removing systemic barriers that hinder gender balance. Our CEOs are committed to addressing gender inequity in Western Australia, not only because it makes good business sense but because it makes good sense for the state.

Ashley Speers

Executive Officer, CEOs for Gender Equity

Ashley has worked with leading Australian organisations to design, implement and deliver talent solutions. She is driven by social purpose and has a compelling passion for gender equity.

Ashley is completing a PhD focused on accelerating progress with female diversity and inclusion in the Western Australian Mining Industry. In line with the ethos of CGE, Ashley’s PhD is action orientated. The thesis will be presented as a framework for success, a practical step by step guide to assist companies on their journey to gender equity.

CGE is poised for a dynamic period of positive change and evolution as we amplify our scale to further turn the dial in WA.

Ashley is intent on inspiring and supporting members to create an inclusive and gender diverse culture. She is passionate about sharing personal gender equity journeys and harnessing the influence of our progressive members to advocate for more change across the public and private sectors.
