WHY COMMIT TO GENDER EQUITY?

At Advanced Mining Production Systems (AMPS), we believe diversity is critical to our success. We believe that diversity and gender equity are essential for creating a dynamic and innovative workplace. We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture that values and respects all employees regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, disability or religious beliefs.

As a CEO, I believe that those who have the ability to take action, have the responsibility to take action. Leadership is essential in developing a culture that embraces and advances gender equity.

At AMPS, our people are our biggest asset. We’ve worked hard to create a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected. We provide equitable support and access to resources, rewards, and opportunities; however, we recognise that this isn’t enough. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) isn’t just a checkbox that organisations can tick off; we still have a long way to go, and AMPS is consistently looking for better ways to reduce the potential for unconscious bias within all aspects of our business including recruitment, pay, flexible working opportunities and promotion decisions. By creating an inclusive culture where all individuals feel valued and respected, AMPS can attract and retain top talent, which further enhances our reputation, and drives business success.

It’s also not enough to just set diversity targets; we must rethink our approach to everyday practices and actively include diversity and inclusion initiatives into our organisation’s values, culture and environment.

I've been fortunate to have influential female role models in my life, particularly my mother, who was recognised as the Western Australian Local Hero of the Year in 2010 for her dedicated commitment to the local community. Growing up surrounded by strong women has been a valuable influence that I've incorporated into my daily life.

Advancing gender equity is critical for organisations to be successful. A workplace that values and celebrates diversity in both nature and thought, brings about an array of ideas and solutions to challenges and helps close the gaps in our thinking.

We can’t sit back and wait for this change to happen. This is why I’m partnering with like-minded leaders; to increase awareness of gender equity issues, acknowledge that we have more to do, and take the lead on removing barriers to DEI.
