WHY COMMIT TO GENDER EQUITY?
At PwC Australia our vision is for a thriving, fair and diverse community of solvers, working together respectfully to make a difference. We challenge ourselves to be more inclusive every day because we take the health and happiness of our employees seriously.
To solve important problems, we need to make sure we are attracting the best talent in the market and creating an environment where constructive challenge and diversity of thought is encouraged.
As Managing Partner for the PwC Perth office, it is important to ensure that our leadership team is united in our commitment to gender equality, creating inclusive environments and gender balanced teams. I commend CEOs for their commitment to advancing gender equity in Western Australia, motivating and aiding their peers to actively engage in this vital initiative.
We chose to become a member to raise the profile of gender equity. For PwC this has required us to focus on increasing the number of women in our firm and in our leadership team. We have consciously set targets across a range of diversity metrics, including gender, underpinned by a firm-wide strategy on belonging.
Collectively we want to build a culture of belonging that opens up new opportunities for our people and our firm. When we feel we belong, we feel connected and have a sense of purpose.
Some of our efforts to increase gender balance have included building inclusive capability across our leadership team, working to better enable part time, remote and flexible work, enhancing paid parental leave and encouraging men to share caring responsibilities, and working to eradicate bias and discrimination.
As a large employer we have an important role to play with the gender pay gap. The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) publicly released the first set of gender pay gap data in February 2024 and PwC Australia had a 3.9 percent gender pay gap. Whilst this is considered a neutral gap by WGEA, we acknowledge there is still more to be done and we are determined to further reduce this gap.
PwC have worked relentlessly over many years to reduce our gender pay gap. We annually share our gender and diverse cultural background pay gap, and we will continue to do this as part of our commitment to transparency.
We are thrilled to collaborate with fellow CEOs for gender equity members to share what we have learned and collaborate on shared challenges.
