WHY COMMIT TO GENDER EQUITY?
As CEO of the City of Kalamunda, I believe in leading with both conviction and action. Gender equity is foundational—not only to fairness, but to unlocking the full potential of our organisation and community.
That’s why I’m proud to support and participate in initiatives such as Supporting women in leadership. In 2024, I delivered a keynote at the Women in Local Government Forum—alongside 11 female staff from my organisation—addressing challenges like menopause, breastfeeding and career breaks, and encouraging all leaders to champion gender equity within the local government sector.
Through the City’s “Kala Rehuffle,” a bottom-up organisational realignment involving staff workshops, we fostered inclusive decision-making across the organisation—ensuring voices from all genders and perspectives shaped our future structure.
I am committed to continuing these efforts through enabling flexible leadership models by supporting a job share arrangement for a Director level role, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to flexibility and inclusion at the highest levels of leadership. This initiative ensure that talented individuals can balance professional aspirations with personal responsibilities without having to compromise career progression or organisational performance.
By centering gender equity in our strategy, policies and culture, we do more than drive fairness—we cultivate a high-performing, engaged team that better serves our community. This is how we lead today, and how we leave a lasting impact tomorrow.
