WHY COMMIT TO GENDER EQUITY?

I know what it means to step into a room where you don't see many people like yourself.

I was the first female engineering graduate from ECU, entering a profession where women were significantly underrepresented. That experience shaped my understanding of the importance of representation, belonging and having the confidence to pursue opportunities, even when the path ahead is not always visible.

It also shaped my commitment to ensuring that the next generation of women does not have to face the same barriers.

I believe gender equity is fundamental to building stronger organisations, stronger leaders and a stronger future. It is therefore a leadership priority, not simply a diversity initiative.

My commitment is to help create workplaces where women are supported to develop their capability, step into leadership and have their voices heard and where organisations actively examine the systems, behaviours and assumptions that may unintentionally hold people back.

Through my work in leadership, coaching and organisational change, I have seen that sustainable change starts with people. It requires leaders to understand their own assumptions, challenge established ways of thinking and create cultures where people are encouraged to contribute, grow and lead. We cannot simply expect different outcomes while continuing to lead in the same way.

I am passionate about helping leaders and organisations translate good intentions into meaningful action: building inclusive leadership capability, having the conversations that can sometimes be uncomfortable, and embedding change into the culture rather than treating equity as a standalone initiative.

There is also a compelling business case. When organisations draw on the full range of talent, experiences and perspectives available to them, they are better positioned to innovate, navigate change and make better decisions. Gender equity is not about lowering the bar; it is about removing unnecessary barriers so that talent has the opportunity to reach its potential.

This is why I am proud to join CEOs for Gender Equity. My commitment is not only to advocate for change, but to contribute to it and to use my experience, leadership and voice to help create workplaces where women can see themselves represented, valued and progressing into leadership.

I am committed to creating a future where gender is no longer a barrier to opportunity, leadership or success.

Because when we remove the barriers that limit potential, we create better leaders, stronger organisations and a better future for everyone.
